The idea behind the new executive surf club in London is simple: surfers can use it to wake themselves up, even when they’re sleeping, for no extra charge.
The idea is similar to the popular ‘belly wake’ movement, which allows surfers to wake from sleep without taking any supplements or alcohol.
The new group is part of a wave of initiatives that have emerged in the past few years to encourage surfers and others to wake their bodies up.
There’s the ‘breathless’ initiative from Glow-It, a group of Australian surfers that has been testing a sleeping pill that helps people wake up to surf more easily and has become the number one-selling product on the market.
And there’s the Sleepwave, which was founded in 2009 by an ex-partner of one of the UK’s most famous surfing stars.
The former Climax rider Mark Cavendish recently told the Daily Mail that he used it to get out of bed and relax.
He said: ‘I thought I’d wake up and have some fun.
‘It’s really easy, I’ll put it on for two to three minutes, and then just fall back into the same position, and it feels good.’
But there’s a downside to using it: its been found that using it too much can wake you up and make you feel like a zombie.
In response to these issues, the company’s founder, Peter Riggs, has been making a conscious effort to remove the pills that can wake people up from their sleep cycles.
The pill is known as Biotrime and is currently available from Everest in London for £29.99 ($39.99).
‘A lot of people don’t like it because of the side effects, but the side effect is to wake you on the surf board,’ he told me in an interview.
‘The side effects are quite small, you just feel tired and a little sick, but that’s the only side effect that we’re concerned about.
There’s a number of side effects associated with Biotrrime, and you have to remember that you’re only taking it once, so you’re not going to feel a significant change.
You’re only getting the placebo effect.’
This is not a new concept.
‘Biotrimes have been around for years, and people are still using them to wake them up, which is not what we wanted to do,’ Mr Riggs explained.
‘But there are a number people that have found a lot of value in them, and that’s why we decided to put it out there.’
The first batch of Biotrshemes were available in May of this year and are being tested by a number surfers, including former World Series winner Mike Gubbins and Tobias Mertens.
The first batch will be available to buy online in November, with the company hoping to launch a wider distribution of Biosimilars in the next few months.
The company has also released a video which explains how the pill works and shows how it feels, and explains how to make the pill in the process.
